ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Susan grew up in Wayzata, a suburb of Minneapolis, and became an avid camper from an early age. Her favorite fir-lined spot is the north shore of Minnesota is where she met her husband, honeymooned and dreamed of living.

The north woods easily became the foundation for her first series, The Deep Haven series, based on a little tourist town along the shores of Lake Superior. Her first full-length book, Happily Ever After, became a Christy Award Finalist published in 2004 with Tyndale/Heartquest.

As an award winning author, Susan returned home in 2004, to her native Minnesota after serving for eight years with her husband and four children as missionaries with SEND International in Far East Russia. She now writes full time from Minnesota's north woods and the beautiful town that she always dreamed of living in.

My Review: Deadlock is a non stop thrill ride that holds you in its grip from start to finish. Columnist John Hutchinson is determined to expose the truth about Brendan Page, a billionaire who business is training soldiers and building hi-tech weapons. Brendan Page has been linked to kidnapping, assassinations, and terrorist activities but until now no one has able to prove it. As John seeks to uncover the illegal operations of Page and his organization he gets caught up in his worst nightmare and struggles to stay alive as he fights against a man that seems unbeatable.

I thought this book was great. The writing draws you in so you can see everything vividly and you almost feel like you are watching a movie. If you like suspence thrillers, like me, you will really enjoy this book.

My Review: Chasing Charity was a story centered around Charity Bloom who was just left at the altar by her fiance Daniel who left her for Charity's best friend. Needless to say that was not a good day, and in the aftermath not only does she have to deal with the humiliation of what happened on her wedding day she lost her best friend in the process. Now enters Buddy Pierce who finds oil on her mother's land. Despite Charity's reservations she feels drawn to Buddy and of course as they draw closer to each other Daniel realizes he made a mistake and is determined to get Charity back.

This story was a cute romance that deals with the issues of forgiveness, betrayal, and trust. I really enjoyed reading this book and even though it is heartwarming story it is also full of plots and scandals that will keep you on your toes until the end.

Marcia Gruver is a full time writer who hails from Southeast Texas. Inordinately enamored by the past, Marcia delights in writing historical fiction. Her deep south-central roots lend a Southern-comfortable style and a touch of humor to her writing.

My Review: This book was extremely poignant and thought provoking. This family has to deal not only with the horror of having someone they love murdered but then is dealt the shocking blow that this heinous act was committed by a member of their immediate family. This story is told primarily from the aspect of Liz Peterson whose mother was murdered by her son John, but the story also gives us the perspective of her son John and her daughter Sarah. As the family deals with the shock and repercussions of this event in their lives their walk with God and their ability to live out unconditional love in a extremely difficult circumstance is tested. I highly recommend this book, it is a challenging read and its message of unconditional love and forgiveness is something that we all need to hear.

My Review: Turning the Paige is the second book in the Getaway Girls series. The books are about a group of women in a book club that decide to live out one adventure from each of the books they read. This book follows the story of Paige a 35 year old who divorced from her husband 3 years ago. Now she is stuck taking care of her demanding mother which doesn't allow her a lot of time for a life of her own, and when her mother's health requires Paige to move in with her the little time she did have is sucked away. With encouragement from the Getaway Girls book club members Paige tries to find balance in her life and her relationship with her mother so that she can finally become the person she longs to be.

I really enjoyed this book. It was entertaining, thought provoking, touching, and funny. Paige's situation was a very difficult one and I liked how the author showed the complexity of her situation in a way that really helped you identify with her. This book was an excellent continuation to the series, I also loved the first book Daring Chloe, and I can't wait to read the next book.

Born in Racine, Wisconsin (home of Western Printing and Johnson’s Wax—maker of your favorite floor care products) Laura moved to Phoenix, Arizona when she was in high school. My Review: I always love a well written historical fiction novel and this book definitely fits the bill. This story was about Michal the first wife of King David. King David being a man after God’s own heart and a musician has always been one of my favorite bible heroes so I was very excited to be able to read the story about his first wife. This story brought a different perspective of their relationship and the events surrounding the fall of King Saul and the rise of David who God anointed to become the next king of Israel. I liked how the Smith stuck to the scriptures and really painted a picture of the lives of these people that we are already acquainted with through the bible, and even though this is a work of fiction it really drives home how there is always more to the story than what meets the eye. I highly recommend this book it has some good lessons in it in addition to it being an entertaining read.

Jill Eileen Smith is the author of several articles, poems, and stories, and her unpublished novels have placed in five writing contests in the past five years. A children’s story, which she wrote for her church led her youngest son to faith in Christ several years ago; much like a gospel tract led her to the Lord at a similar age.

That story, “Seeking Treasureland,” is now available. Jill is a member of several online writing groups and helps promote fellow authors’ works through monthly interviews on the "Spotlight" page of her website. She, along with her husband and children, are active members in their local church. My Review: Being a fan of the TV show Alias this book was great! I loved the complexity of the characters and the different layers to the story. There storyline was not obvious and hooks your attention from the beginning. Paige Romero, an ex-CIA operative is living in disguise after being betrayed in an operation that went sour she is forced to live a lie to protect her family. During that time Paige becomes a Christian and when she is called back to her life as a CIA to bring the man who betrayed her to justice she has a new found perspective that will change the way she approaches her life as an operative.

So if you love action, mystery, and suspense you will definitely love this book. Enjoy!
