My Review: I always look forward to Siri Mitchell's books so when I had the opportunity to review her latest I was thrilled. This story seemed to be a little different than the other books of Mitchell's that I have read and that peaked my interest even more, and though the book was not what I expected I was definitely not disappointed.

This story is about a woman name Susannah Phillips who lives in a Puritan community. Although she always tries to live in the way that her community dictates she struggles inwardly with the rules as she desperately tries to follow them. This book is a wonderful story of love and grace that will captivate you until you reach the end of the book. It is not only a entertaining novel but also a reminder of how grace is a gift that we all can have and all we have to do is accept it.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Siri Mitchell graduated from the University of Washington with a business degree and worked in various levels of government. As a military spouse, she has lived all over the world, including in Paris and Tokyo. Siri enjoys observing and learning from different cultures. She is fluent in French and loves sushi.

But she is also a member of a strange breed of people called novelists. When they’re listening to a sermon and taking notes, chances are, they’ve just had a great idea for a plot or a dialogue. If they nod in response to a really profound statement, they’re probably thinking, “Yes. Right. That’s exactly what my character needs to hear.” When they edit their manuscripts, they laugh at the funny parts. And cry at the sad parts. Sometimes they even talk to their characters.

Siri wrote 4 books and accumulated 153 rejections before signing with a publisher. In the process, she saw the bottoms of more pints of Ben & Jerry’s than she cares to admit. At various times she has vowed never to write another word again. Ever. She has gone on writing strikes and even stooped to threatening her manuscripts with the shredder.

A Constant Heart was her sixth novel. Two of her novels, Chateau of Echoes and The Cubicle Next Door were Christy Award finalists. She has been called one of the clearest, most original voices in the CBA.

My Review: I thought this book was great. It was everything I have come to expect from a Deeanne Gist book, a great romantic story with a biblical perspective. This book was based on the true story of Asa Mercer a man who shipped Civil war brides to the west. The main character, Anna Ivey, is one of those women but she believes that she is going to the west to be a cook not a bride so when the man who paid for her passage (who needs to be married in order to keep his land) expects to get married needless to say the trouble begins. This story had a lot of unexpected twists and turns and is definitely one you will want to finish in one sitting.

My Review: My Deliverer was a great read. It makes you re-examine the story of Moses and Joshua. This book is part two of the Reluctant Demon Diaries and is told from the perspective of a fallen angel. Although this book is historical fiction it really makes you take a deeper look into the bible story and also gave me a better perspective on a lot of what happened with the plagues God put on Egypt and the exodus of the Israelites.

I haven't finished the book yet, but I will post an update when I finish.

My Review: The Rose House tells the story of a Lillian Diamon, a woman dealing with grief and heartbreak who finds solace in a beautiful rose covered house. Unknown to Lillian the private moment of grief she experienced visiting the Rose House is captured in a painting which so vividly depicts her private moment that it leaves Lillian feeling exposed and vulnerable. Interested in finding the artist Lillian finds herself entangled in a mystery that not only involves the painting but also the tragedy that brought her to the Rose House in the first place.

This is a book that you won't want to put down. I really enjoyed it and loved how unique the story was and how the story was told from more than one point of view so which added to the suspense and gave a more complete picture. The book has many unexpected turns that will keep you guessing and is a great entertaining read.

My Review: Being a huge fan of Jane Austen I loved this modern day adaptation of Jane Eyre. This story is a wonderful tribute to Austen's story with modern elements that make it easy to relate to. Even if you are not familiar with the Jane Austen novel this book stands alone as a great story filled with romance and suspense that you will thoroughly enjoy.
