My Review: Becca By The Book is the third book in the Getaway Girls series which were also reviewed on this blog. I really enjoyed this latest installment which was told from the perspective of Becca, the adventurous non-christian member of the Getaway Girls book club. My favorite thing about the book was it was different from the typical chick lit story about the single girl. It is a great story with tons of funny moments. I highly recommend this series, but you know my rule if you haven't read the other two books in the series you should start at the beginning with Daring Chloe. Enjoy!

Laura Jensen Walker is an award-winning writer, popular speaker, and breast-cancer survivor who loves to touch readers and audiences with the healing power of laughter.



Born in Racine, Wisconsin (home of Western Printing and Johnson’s Wax—maker of your favorite floor care products) Laura moved to Phoenix, Arizona when she was in high school. But not being a fan of blazing heat and knowing that Uncle Sam was looking for a few good women, she enlisted in the United States Air Force shortly after graduation and spent the next five years flying a typewriter through Europe.

Laura’s third novel, Reconstructing Natalie, chosen as the Women of Faith Novel of the Year for 2006, is the funny and poignant story of a young, single woman who gets breast cancer and how her life is reconstructed as a result. This book was born out of Laura’s cancer speaking engagements where she started meeting younger and younger women stricken with this disease—some whose husbands had left them, and others who wondered what breast cancer would do to their dating life. She wanted to write a novel that would give voice to those women. Something real. And honest. And funny.



Because although cancer isn’t funny, humor is healing.

My Review: This book is about a widow named Cassie who returns to the summer home she owned with her husband to get it ready before it is put on the market. One of her friends gives her a "Surprise Yourself" box that is filled with cars with scriptures on one side and related challenges for the day based on the scripture. As she spends time in Holiday, Florida doing her "Surprise Yourself" she finds things about herself that she never knew which leads to some interesting developments in her life.

This book was a great heartwarming read that you will thoroughly enjoy. I loved the idea of the stepping out of your comfort zone with the "Surprise Yourself" challenges, and the people in Holiday are hilarious.

and publicist to some of daytime television's hottest stars. When her mother became ill in Florida, she walked away from that segment of her life and moved across the country to take on a new role: Caregiver.

My Review: This book was a great read. It was full of suspense and romance and once I started the book I was hooked till the finish. If you enjoy period novels this book is one that you should read for yourself.
