My thoughts: I have only had time to start reading this book but so far it has captured my interest. I have always loved the story of Rahab, even more so when I read Francine Rivers Lineage of Grace series, and am looking forward to continuing this book. I will post a review when I finish.

Update: I finished the book earlier this week. I loved it! It was a beautiful telling of Rahab's story and what struck me most about the book was it gave you a view of how God sees sin. Sometimes when reading the old testament accounts of God having the Israelites wipe out a group of people because of their sinful ways it is hard to understand why God would do this. What I think this book does is really show how horrible sin is and that sometimes it just gets to a point where things are so bad that God has to bring down judgement to get it to stop. I also thought this story really addressed the issues Rahab and her family had to face when the joined the Israelites after the fall of Jericho and how great Rahab's faith was. Even though this of course is a fictional account based on the real life of Rahab I really believe that this book will be a blessing to you and really give you insight into this time in bible history.

Tessa Afshar was born in a nominally Muslim family in Iran and lived there for the first fourteen years of her life. She survived English boarding school for girls before moving to the United States permanently. Her conversion to Christianity in her mid-twenties changed the course of her life forever. Tessa holds an MDIV from Yale University where she served as co-Chair of the Evangelical Fellowship at the

Divinity School. She has spent the last twelve years in full and part-time Christian work and currently serves as the leader of Women’s and Prayer ministries at a church in Connecticut.

My thoughts: As you probably can tell from my previous book reviews I am a Deeanne Gist fan and this book is definitely one of my favorites by this author. Maid to Match transports you in to the behind the scenes world of a maid working at the Biltmore (famous home of the Vanderbuilts). Tillie has been training all of her life to obtain the prestigious position of lady's maid to Ms. Vanderbuilt. When the opportunity comes for her to try and win the position the arrival of a new footman on the estate puts a hitch in her plans and forces her to reevaluate what she wants in life and what God's plan is for her. This book is a great break from the everyday and a perfect summer read!

My thoughts: This book was a great read that not only had a entertaining period romance, but also talked about the gifts God gives you and using them to give God glory. Hannah and JT are interesting characters that clash over Hannah's profession but eventually find some common ground. I really enjoyed both of their stories especially the journey that JT goes on in terms of his relationship with Hannah and his sister as well as his relationship with God. I am very interested in reading more from this author so I recommend that you check the book out for yourself.
